Why Your Home Isn’t Selling—And It’s Not What You Think

The real reason buyers are backing out of deals will surprise you. But that does not mean you can’t do anything about it.

I’m going to drop some truth bomb here and I know you will not believe it. The reason your home isn’t selling is because it’s not worth what you think it is.

Before you raise your eyebrows with what I said, hear me out first.

The reason homes are stuck in the market is because there’s a lack of interest from buyers. The harsh reality is that today’s buyers expect more, and if your home isn’t meeting their standards, it’s going to sit on the market for a long time.

Buyers are paying almost double the interest rates compared to when you bought the property, and they’re not willing to spend a dime on repairs or upgrades. If your home isn’t move-in ready, they’re walking away. And if they stick around, they’ll likely back out after the inspection report.

Now, you might be thinking, “But I didn’t mind a few fixes when I bought the place.” Well, the game has changed. Today’s buyers are dealing with skyrocketing home prices and renovation costs. They’re not interested in taking on a project—they want something that’s ready to live in right now.

"It’s not just about pricing. It’s about presenting a home that’s ready to go, without repairs or surprises."

If you’re a seller and serious about selling, you need to prepare your home to meet buyers' expectations. Homes that need work, even if priced well, may sit on the market for longer than you think. The homes that sell fast are the ones that look and feel like they’re worth every penny.

It’s not just about pricing. It’s about presenting a home that’s ready to go, without repairs or surprises.

Now, if you are a buyer, it’s going to be different.  You need someone who understands not just the process of buying, but the long-term reality of owning a home. I’ve bought, remodeled, and sold homes myself, and I know how to spot the red flags that can save you thousands down the road.

Whether you’re buying or selling, having an agent who understands the market inside and out is critical.

If you need someone to help you in making sure you get the best deal as a buyer, or if you’re looking to sell and you want to ensure it matches what the buyers want so you can sell it fast, I’m here to help you. You can call or text me at 916-847-2205 and I’ll help you with everything you need, whether it is buying or selling properties.
